2025年04月16日 | College of Science, Mathematics and Technology | HaozeWu | student | In the context of innovation, industry, technology, and infrastructure, green development can be reflected in many everyday details. One example from around me involves a friend who studies industrial design. He once participated in designing a reusable takeout container system. This system combined NFC sensing technology with smart recycling stations. When ordering food, users could choose eco-friendly containers and return them to a station near the dorm after eating. The system would automatically record the return and offer reward points. This idea not only addressed the environmental issues caused by disposable containers but also used smart technology to boost user participation and recycling efficiency. I believe this is a great example of combining green concepts with industrial practice and technological innovation. Green development is not just an environmental slogan—it needs to be applied in real-life solutions. Starting from small designs and everyday changes, we can use technology to empower our lives and make green ideas visible, tangible, and practical. That’s the real force behind building a sustainable future. |

2025年04月19日 | College of Business and Public Management | QiuziZhang | student | The electricity consumption on the WKU campus is very high. If the natural resources on campus can be converted into electricity, can self-sufficiency in electricity be achieved? I came up with the idea of using water resources and solar energy to achieve the power sustainability of WKU. A small hydroelectric generator can be installed in the river of the school to convert the continuous water flow into clean electricity. Solar photovoltaic panels can be installed on the rooftops of campus buildings to convert sunlight into electricity. These actions can not only reduce the electricity cost of schools but also achieve the sustainability of energy. | Goal 7: Affordable and clean energy |
2025年04月20日 | College of Architecture and Design | YibeiWang | student | Campus Express Carton Recycling, Sustainable Utilization Plan Question: 1. We can find that there are many discarded express boxes at the express station every day. The express bags are thrown into a large trash can at the express station, and then they are laboriously cleaned and recycled by uncles and aunts every night. Wouldn’t it be better if classmates and teachers could join in the recycling? 2. There are still quite a lot of people sending expresses at school, especially during holidays, and the number of people sending express at the express station will increase rapidly. At this time, many express boxes at the express station are new, and students have to pay for them. If we can make an appointment for the box in advance at this time, wouldn’t it be more convenient and environmentally friendly to get the right size for free? So I thought of a green and environmentally friendly express box recycling idea, which can be realized through the small program or app on the mobile phone to recycle the express box on campus. We can make a campus small program or app for the recycling of express boxes: scan the QR code, and there will be two large options on the homepage: appointment box or recycling box. When the appointment or recycling is completed, points can be obtained. The corresponding number of points can be exchanged for prizes at WKU’s cultural and creative store, or Gu Ming milk tea coupons, etc. Early stage: You can put up posters promoting carton recycling at express stations and dormitory buildings; send emails; let RA or RHD promote "no queues for carton, green recycling has rewards" and other introductions in the group. (Carton recycling scenario assumption): If you have just unpacked a courier at the express station, and you find that the courier box is still 70% new and can be used again, you can scan the QR code on the express station, choose to recycle the carton, take a photo, choose the carton size, choose the place to put it (express station), confirm the recycling, and the recycling is successful. After successful recycling, you can get 10 points, so that you can accumulate slowly. (Carton reservation scenario assumption): If someone buys your things on Xianyu, you are in the dormitory, but want to get a small carton to pack, you can enter this applet, choose to reserve a carton, choose the carton size, (the app will show the inventory quantity of cartons at different locations), and choose the pick-up location downstairs of the dormitory, and then take a photo after picking it up, confirm the receipt, so that you can quickly get the courier box for packaging. After confirming that you have received the paper box, you will receive points as rewards. The points for reservation and recycling are counted together. When you reach a certain point, you can redeem prizes. Renovation and setting of the delivery point (set up a total delivery point at the express station, and the student dormitory building is a secondary delivery point): We can place three large recycling bins with bright colors in the open space outside the school express station exit (the exit close to SF Express). Different colors correspond to small, medium and large express box delivery marks. When you successfully recycle on your mobile phone, you can throw the express box in. At the door of each dormitory, we will also find a place for express boxes, but this function is not very large, and the recycling device is not conspicuous. We can also transform it into a recycling point with obvious colors. We can post promotional posters on the wall with QR codes, so that students can put the boxes that are in good condition and can be recycled into this recycling place. Students who need to receive them can also take them here. Then, when recycling garbage under the dormitory every day, relevant personnel can also transport the recycling boxes under the dormitory to the total delivery place of the express station to ensure that the boxes under the dormitory will not pile up. In the later stage, we can also hold corresponding cardboard transformation competitions, use cardboard to make creative environmentally friendly basins or other handmade creative ideas. After the production is completed, click the link to take a photo and upload it for evaluation and rewards. This will allow more people to participate in the green environmental protection plan of campus express boxes. We can also cooperate with Wen-Ken Farm. After making creative cartons, put them in designated recycling locations. We will select the top few and plant crops from Wen-Ken Farm in them, and give feedback rewards. |
Goal 11: Sustainable cities and communities |
2025年04月20日 | College of Business and Public Management | SiluYang | student | The "Four Seasons Smart Water Circulation" stepped ecological water storage landscape system. Given Wenzhou's climatic characteristics and the campus's terrain, a three-in-one system of "rainwater collection - seasonal regulation and storage - landscape education" is constructed. First, stepping water storage tanks are arranged to take advantage of the campus terrain that is higher in the north and lower in the south. The water storage tanks contain dual functional "purification + water storage" modules. They are embedded with a three-stage filtration system to ensure that the rainwater meets the standards and is reused for green irrigation and fountain landscapes. Second, the tank body transforms into a "breathing" stabilizer. During the rainy season, it becomes a "water-absorbing sponge" to alleviate waterlogging, and during the dry season, it becomes a "water supply hub" for precise irrigation. Third, the surrounding supporting water storage tank visualization Windows, real-time water quality monitoring screens, and interactive water conservation education scenarios make water resource management a touchable and participatory ecological classroom on campus. |
Goal 6: Clean water and sanitation |
2025年04月20日 | College of Business and Public Management | ZijinLin | student | I suggest launching the "Green Public Welfare Market" project to encourage students to recycle unused items such as old clothes, books, and study supplies through charity sales, exchanges, or donations. By establishing a sustainable resource recycling and redistribution platform on campus, resource waste can be reduced, and the proceeds or materials from charity sales can be directly used to support economically disadvantaged students or rural education development, forming a closed-loop system of green public welfare. At the same time, students can take on promotional or management roles in the project, exercise their practical abilities, and enhance their sense of social responsibility. The market can also be combined with festivals and club activities to improve participation and influence, creating a campus cultural atmosphere centered on "environmental protection + public welfare". This project closely integrates the concept of sustainable development to eliminate poverty, and is a long-term and replicable green initiative. | Goal 1: No Poverty |
2025年04月20日 | College of Business and Public Management | ZijinLin | student | I suggest carrying out the "Clean Your Plate Campaign+Love Meal" dual combination plan in the campus canteen, on the one hand, encourage students to reduce waste and take the initiative to get meals on demand; On the other hand, daily leftover food will be collected at designated locations and professionally processed before being donated to students or communities in need. We advocate combining technology (such as intelligent meal retrieval systems) with management (such as volunteer coordination mechanisms) to create a campus food system that combines environmental protection, health, and social care. By advocating for conservation and raising awareness, we aim to increase students' understanding of food security, nutritional inequality, and social care and promote a sustainable food culture. | Goal 2: Zero hunger |
2025年04月20日 | College of Business and Public Management | GengleZhang | student | 1. Project Overview The “Green Power Reminder System” is an energy-saving initiative designed for student dormitories. By collecting and visualizing real-time electricity usage data, the system encourages students to develop eco-friendly habits and reduce carbon emissions. It aligns with SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and SDG 13 (Climate Action), aiming to promote a greener campus lifestyle. 2. How It Works 1) Design Smart System Data Access: Connect to the dormitory smart meter system to collect daily electricity usage data. Visualization Platform (via mini program, web interface, or WeChat plug-in): Display real-time electricity usage trends in dormitories; Provide comparative analysis with averages across the same floor or the entire campus; Show a green energy efficiency rating (Excellent, Normal, or High Usage). 2) Power Usage Reminder Mechanism Students will receive personalized notifications when their daily usage exceeds the standard level, for example: “Your electricity use today is 20% above the campus average. Don’t forget to switch off lights and unplug devices. Be a guardian of your green dormitory!” During holidays or peak electricity periods, energy-saving tips will be provided to encourage mindful use. 3) Behavior Incentive Strategies Green Energy Competition: Select a “Dormitory Energy Saver of the Month” with prizes and recognition. Energy-Saving Check-in Plan: Students who complete daily green tasks (e.g., turning off lights, unplugging devices) can collect points to redeem for eco-friendly items (e.g., reusable bags, personal water bottles). Green Leaderboard: Digital boards in dormitory buildings will publicly display rankings to foster friendly competition and increase engagement. 3.Why This System Is Especially Suitable for Our Campus At our university, dormitory electricity operates on a 24-hour non-stop supply, but students often face high electricity costs. Once the prepaid balance runs out, the power is cut off immediately without any advance warning, which can cause inconvenience and disrupt daily life. Currently, there is no effective reminder system to alert students before reaching the electricity limit. The Green Power Reminder System directly addresses these issues by providing real-time usage tracking and timely notifications. It allows students to monitor their electricity consumption, avoid unexpected power cuts, and develop better energy-saving habits. In addition, the cost-saving benefits and improved awareness support both individual well-being and the university’s broader sustainability goals. |
Goal 7: Affordable and clean energy |
2025年04月20日 | College of Business and Public Management | CunhanGong | student | The core goal of SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation): Ensure access to safe drinking water and sanitation , improve water quality, increase water use efficiency, protect water resource ecosystems, and strengthen relevant international cooperation. Green Idea Proposal 1.Campus water conservation and rainwater collection system (1)Install rainwater collection devices to use rainwater for non-drinking purposes. For example, campus greening irrigation and toilet flushing. (2)Design green roofs on campus building roofs to reduce rainwater reduce and improve building warmth. (3)Promote water-saving appliances (such as hand sensor faucets, low-water use shower heads) 2.Campus Water Quality Monitoring and Purification Project (1)Conduct water quality monitoring activities on campus (2)Introducing ecological purification technology into campus artificial lakes (3)Promote reusable water filter bottles 3 Wastewater recycling (1)Special treatment of laboratory wastewater to avoid pollution (2)Treated wastewater for flushing toilets |

Goal 4: Quality education |
2025年04月20日 | College of Business and Public Management | 欣雨姚 | student | "Recyclable express boxes" are set up downstairs of the dormitory. When students shop online, they can choose to use shared cardboard boxes and return them to their original places for others to reuse after receiving the items. Stick notes are pasted on the boxes, indicating the information about the items and usage instructions. Before leaving school at the end of the semester, a "Graduation Drifting Bazaar" is held. Books, stationery, and daily necessities that cannot be taken away are transferred at a low price or donated to junior students, reducing resource waste. | Goal 11: Sustainable cities and communities |
2025年04月20日 | College of Business and Public Management | XinyuYao | student | Program objectives: Promote gender equality, especially in education and the workplace, and strive to eliminate gender discrimination and promote equal opportunities for women and men. Measures: Enact stricter laws against gender violence and gender discrimination, and provide legal aid and psychological support to victims. Increase women's participation in government, legislative bodies and decision-making levels to ensure that women's needs are taken into account in policy decisions. Promote the formulation of a gender equality strategy at the national level to ensure that all policies and projects incorporate gender analysis and identify and eliminate factors of gender inequality. |
Goal 5: Gender equality |
2025年04月20日 | College of Business and Public Management | CunhanGong | student | It is suggested to develop a digital platform called "Wenzhou-Kean Governance", which will integrate three core functions: 1) School affairs disclosure module, which will publicize important decisions, financial information and construction project progress in real time; 2) Online hearing system, which will conduct electronic hearings on major issues such as campus planning and collect opinions from teachers and students; 3) Dispute mediation channel, which will provide anonymous reporting, psychological counseling and third-party mediation services. The platform uses blockchain technology to ensure that data cannot be tampered with, all processing procedures are transparent and traceable, and a governance transparency report is generated weekly and announced to the whole school. Through the construction of this platform, it is expected that the efficiency of campus affairs processing will be improved, the satisfaction of teachers and students will be improved and a practical platform will be provided for cultivating citizens with legal awareness. | Goal 16: Peace, justice and strong institutions |
2025年04月21日 | College of Science, Mathematics and Technology | ChuyiXiao | student | With the rapid development of economy and industry, more and more waste is attached to the new products. So if we can reduce packaging pollution and prolong usage time for each item, how can our world become more sustainable? We advocate choosing degradable items instead of purchasing disposable products (such as fast fashion clothing, disposable tableware and so on). The key is avoid impulsive consumption and cut down on waste from the source. Also, by establishing a sustainable recycling and incentive platform supported by responsible companies, users put in recycle items (such as paper, plastics, metals, e-waste) and ended by rewarding relevant money, making reduce resource waste come true. These ideas not only can increase students’ awareness of environment pollution, minimalist life, but also promote a responsible consumption atmosphere. | Goal 12: Responsible consumption and production |
2025年04月21日 | College of Liberal Arts | ChuankunZhu | student | In the educational sphere, equal opportunities must be ensured for all genders starting from kindergarten. School textbooks should steer clear of gender stereotypes. For instance, when crafting stories and case studies, it's essential to highlight women's accomplishments in STEM fields and men's contributions in traditionally female - dominated sectors like nursing and education. Teachers ought to treat students equally, actively encouraging girls to engage in discussions and experiments in subjects such as mathematics and physics. They should also guide boys in developing emotional expression and communication skills. Moreover, scholarship programs should be established to financially support economically disadvantaged female students in pursuing higher education, breaking down the economic barriers that limit their educational prospects. In the workplace, businesses need to develop sensible parental leave policies. This includes providing paid maternity leave for female employees and offering paid care leave for male employees to facilitate newborn and family care. Flexible working hours should be implemented. By adopting a flexible work system, employees can choose work hours that suit them best. This is particularly beneficial for dual - income families with children. In terms of compensation, a transparent salary system should be established. Regular salary equity reviews should be conducted to ensure equal pay for equal work between men and women. Furthermore, internal training and promotion mechanisms should be set up. Women should be encouraged to participate in leadership training programs and provided with promotion opportunities to increase their representation in management. Regarding social spreading and awareness - raising, governments and non - governmental organizations can jointly launch large - scale publicity campaigns. They should utilize various channels such as social media, television, and radio to spread the concept of gender equality. For example, public service advertisements can be produced to showcase positive images of different genders cooperating equally and developing jointly across various industries. Community forums and lectures should be organized, inviting experts and activists in gender equality to share their experiences and helping the public understand gender inequality issues and their harmful effects. When reporting news events, the media should avoid gender bias and objectively present the views and contributions of different genders. In terms of male involvement, it's crucial to actively encourage men to participate in the gender equality movement. Men can share more household and child - care responsibilities at home, establishing the concept of equal families. In the workplace, male managers should lead by example, supporting the career development of their female colleagues and providing a fair competitive environment. Men should also be encouraged to take part in activities against gender - based violence, becoming advocates for gender equality and working hand in hand with women to create a more equal and harmonious society. By making continuous efforts in education, the workplace, social spreading and male participation, we can gradually eliminate gender inequality and move toward a fairer and more sustainable future. |
Goal 5: Gender equality |
2025年04月21日 | 楚楚周 | student | We can using technology to make all trees or other planets automated and able to move to suitable places based on instructions or automatic programs, we can make better use of natural resources and protect the environment more effectively. Instead of building more structures, which often causes some pollution and harms the land, this method allows us to avoid those problems. Automated plants can move to places where they get the right amount of sunlight, water, and other natural conditions, helping them grow better while saving energy and resources. With the help of simple programs or smart systems, the plants can adjust themselves based on weather changes or soil quality, making the whole process more efficient. This also reduces the need for human labor and lowers maintenance costs. As a result, nature is disturbed less, and we can keep a cleaner, greener environment. This idea also helps us think of new ways to live with nature instead of controlling it. In the long run, using this kind of plant technology can support a more sustainable way of life, where we protect the earth while still meeting our needs. It shows how technology, when used wisely, can work together with nature rather than against it. | Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, Technology and Infrastructure | |
2025年04月21日 | College of Business and Public Management | ChuyaLin | student | Among the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Goal 8, "Decent Work and Economic Growth," emphasizes promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth worldwide and providing decent employment opportunities for all. Wenzhou-Kean University, as a Sino-US cooperative institution of higher learning, plays an active role in promoting this goal. The school adopts an all-English teaching system, focuses on improving students' international vision and comprehensive literacy, and effectively enhances the employment competitiveness of graduates, especially in the cultivation of young talents and entrepreneurship education. In addition, the school introduces international teachers and promotes academic exchanges between China and foreign countries, which not only provides a large number of high-quality jobs for the local area, but also injects vitality into the international development of Wenzhou's economy. However, to achieve Goal 8 more comprehensively, I have some opinions of my own, and I will start from the three perspectives of students, schools, and society. From the perspective of student development, I hope that the school will further expand off-campus internship resources and enhance practical opportunities, especially to establish internship bases with local and international companies. "Paid internship programs" or "semester internship duration system" can be opened to allow students to gain more realistic work experience. Add training such as mock interviews, resume workshops, and workplace etiquette. From the perspective of school management and system, schools can improve the labor rights protection mechanism, and pay attention to the working hours, salary, insurance and other issues of staff in labor positions on campus (such as cleaning, security, canteen, etc.) to ensure decent employment. Regularly evaluate the satisfaction and working conditions of third-party service personnel. In addition, a multicultural integration plan can be established to strengthen the alumni network to support employment. From the perspective of social and government cooperation, promote the education connection of sustainable industries, and set up special courses or directions in the fields of green energy, sustainable design, social enterprises, etc. To achieve the 8th Sustainable Development Goal, it is necessary not only to let students "find a job", but also to help them "find a good job"; not only to serve white-collar workers, but also to let every worker work and live with dignity on campus. |
Goal 8: Decent work and economic growth |
2025年04月21日 | College of Liberal Arts | MiqiYang | student | Green ecological wall: Replacing normal walls of campus building with ecological wall for plant growth. For instance, the outer walls of the balconies can be lined with wire mesh, and the mesh can be filled with block soil and seeds scattered. Once the plants sprout and grow, an ecological wall will be formed. The plants on the ecological wall can carry out photosynthesis and respiration, providing fresh air for people. Meanwhile, the wall surrounded by green plants also creates a landscape of a small forest, beautifying the campus environment. At the same time, it also enables civils to have a relaxed mood. Indoor ecological wall can also be covered must have sunshine, avoid to draw the curtains for you too dark, open the curtains too bright contradiction occurs. On the indoor ecological walls, soilless cultivation or hydroponics isolated by glass bottles can be adopted. This will reduce the possibility of the breeding of insects and the shedding of soil debris. Meanwhile, the increase in water sources also enables the water body to play a role in regulating temperature: in summer, the water body absorbs more heat but warms up slowly, which helps to lower the temperature of the surrounding air. In winter, the water body releases heat slowly but continuously, which can maintain a certain temperature. Therefore, the setting of this ecological wall can also make the interior warm in winter and cool in summer. |
Goal 11: Sustainable cities and communities |
2025年04月21日 | College of Business and Public Management | NenqingZhu | student | I believe that the essence of high-quality education is to improve the efficiency of education and cultivate the talents needed for the development of national education in the shortest possible time. I believe that after receiving nine years of compulsory education and ensuring that students acquire basic knowledge and skills, the education curriculum of high school and university should allow students to choose the subjects they are good at and are interested in, so that they can fully enjoy their education. At the same time, only taking classes that are relevant to one's major can greatly reduce students' time and energy, and improve the efficiency of students and quality education. In daily life, many students often stay up late and feel tired in order to complete homework for courses that are not related to their majors, which greatly increases the pressure on students. Therefore, I believe that high-quality education should improve the efficiency of education and cultivate more talents. | Goal 4: Quality education |
2025年04月21日 | College of Business and Public Management | ChenghuiCai | student | We plan to create a "shared vegetable garden" project on the idle vacant land in the community. Residents can claim exclusive planting spots and grow local seasonal vegetables. Through localized planting, the transportation distance of food can be reduced to lower carbon emissions. Using compost bins, kitchen waste can be converted into organic fertilizer, reducing landfill pressure and realizing resource recycling. At the same time, regular training on organic farming and water-saving skills is carried out, and priority is given to providing participation opportunities for low-income families. The vegetables they harvest can be self-sufficient and increase their income through charity sales, thereby comprehensively promoting the construction of a low-carbon life and sustainable food system in the community. | Goal 11: Sustainable cities and communities |
